BQA Advanced Education Module on Biosecurity Now Available!
As a new addition to our learning tools, we are excited to announce that the checkoff-funded Beef Quality Assurance Advanced Education Module on Biosecurity is available for use! This is the first of a series of Advanced Education Modules that the BQA team will be developing on topics important to cattle producers. The module builds on what the Daily Biosecurity Plan for Disease Prevention previously laid out. This interactive module provides information on the basics of identifying key principles of infectious disease management and biosecurity. It will be an excellent learning opportunity for anyone working with the cattle operation such as producers, veterinarians, high school students, and many more. The course was developed with practicality in mind and real-world examples that will be applicable to all types of operations. Participants can explore infectious disease transmission routes, separation and sanitation principles, walk through the BQA Daily Biosecurity Plan for Disease Prevention with guidance on filling it out, and explore foreign animal diseases and the efforts of the Secure Beef Supply Plan. Best practices examples are provided for scenarios such as calving animals, manure management, and acquiring breeding animals. Completion of this Advanced Education Module does not qualify for BQA certification or re-certification but is still a good next step in BQA educational content.Announcement
